- ➤ Greater Mankato Diversity Council is accepting nominations for the 2026 MLK Pathfinder Awards, which honor local residents, organizations & businesses that embody Dr. King's ideals. Nominations are due Monday, and the awards will be presented on Jan. 19, Martin Luther King Jr. Day. Mankato Free Press
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ The Mankato Area School Board approved calendars for the next two school years; the 2026-27 year will start after Labor Day and finish before Memorial Day while the 2027-28 year begins the week before Labor Day, with both including a spring break of three or more consecutive days. KEYC

- ➤ The Minnesota Department of Transportation will host an open house on Tuesday, Jan. 27 from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. (at Blue Earth County Library) to explain the upcoming Veteran’s Memorial Bridge project that will repair the bridge and improve local traffic routes. KEYC
