- ➤ A period pantry has been set up at Blue Earth County Library to provide menstrual products, installed by the Junior League in partnership with Free Period Pantry — the initiative began before the holidays and invites community donations to keep the supply stocked. Mankato Free Press
- ➤ The Salvation Army’s red kettle campaign met its $550k goal during its Christmas run, with corporate sponsors and red kettles collecting over $30k in one day (the first time since 2020). Captain Andy Wheeler said the funds will boost community service. KEYC
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Veterans Memorial Bridge will close on Feb. 3 for repairs, forcing over 20,000 vehicles daily to detour via Highways 14 and 169 until it reopens in November; MnDOT will host a final open house on Jan. 27 at the Blue Earth County Library (3:30 to 5:30 p.m.) for planning. KEYC
