- ➤ David Jones, a former vice president at Minnesota State University, is one of three finalists for SMSU president in Marshall as the Board of Trustees will review recommendations on Feb. 18 and the new leader is set to begin on July 1. Mankato Free Press
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ A public open house is scheduled for Tuesday, Jan. 27, from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. at the Blue Earth County Library to detail the Veterans Memorial Bridge project that will close the bridge from Feb. 3 until late 2026 and reroute traffic (Plum Street, 2nd Street, and Main Street). KEYC
REAL ESTATE NEWS
- ➤ Preliminary plans to redevelop the closed downtown Walgreens site and surrounding block will be reviewed by the City Council on Monday; the project will feature a six-story mixed-use building with apartments, offices & retail spaces including a grocery store. Construction may begin this fall, with major work starting next January. Mankato Free Press

- ➤ The No. 2 MSU women’s basketball team defeated Northern State 81-52 on Friday & Natalie Bremer became the all-time leading scorer with 22 points, pushing the team to a 19-0 season record. KEYC
