- ➤ The VINE Adult Community Center held its grand reopening Tuesday after completing a remodeling project funded by a 3-million gift from Jim and Jennie Ward. The upgrades include a new lobby fireplace and improved accessibility to support older residents. Mankato Free Press

- ➤ The Children’s Museum of Southern Minnesota has named Kim Kleven as its new CEO after a unanimous board vote. She has worked at the museum for over 20 years (in roles like volunteer and vice president of play and learning) which will guide its focus on early childhood programs. Mankato Free Press
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Mankato students continue to achieve academic success this fall: Catherine Cummings was named to the dean’s list at NIU Dekalb, and Emily Frutos Krueger earned both dean’s and president’s list honors at the University of Hartford — accolades that highlight local excellence. Mankato Free Press
- ➤ The Children’s Museum of Southern Minnesota is hosting the All My Relatives mini-workshops for children ages 7-12 and their caregivers on Thursdays from 4-6 p.m., starting this week. Participants will explore Indigenous culture through art, storytelling, and hands-on activities as MSU supports the effort. Mankato Free Press

- ➤ The Veterans Memorial Bridge closes for major repairs starting Tuesday, Feb. 3 and remains closed until nearly Nov. 1+the Highway 169 interchange and parts of Riverfront Drive and Belgrade Avenue will also face temporary detours in Mankato. Mankato Free Press

- ➤ The newest indoor golf club, The Course, will open Saturday, Jan. 31 at 551 Belle Ave (former Tee Times site), offering advanced swing analytics and flexible memberships for individual and group play.
