COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Twin Valley Council and Northern Star Scouting merged Tuesday after several months of planning to boost sustainability and strengthen Scouting programs, now serving over 40,000 youth in 41 counties in Minnesota and four in Wisconsin.  Mankato Free Press
  • Makatoh Reconciliation riders met with city staff to discuss support for their healing ride—officials said they plan to meet again to address differences over classifying the event as a ceremony and to work out issues like parking permits and road closures.  KEYC

CULTURE NEWS

  • A week before the crash known as The Day the Music Died, Buddy Holly, Ritchie Valens, and J.P. Richardson performed at the Kato Ballroom. The venue now preserves photos and an unchanged backstage bench (a treasured reminder of local music history).  KEYC

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Construction on Veterans Memorial Bridge has begun, forcing over 20,000 daily drivers to find alternate routes. Work to improve Belgrade Avenue will start this spring and affect local traffic, but sidewalk access for nearby businesses remains available + commuters are advised to plan ahead.  KEYC
