EDUCATION NEWS

  • MSU is planning a $97M project to replace the crumbling Armstrong Hall to keep classes safe for 4,000 students and 203 staff. Construction could start in November and finish by May 2028 (if lawmakers approve funding through a bonding bill).  Mankato Free Press

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • City officials confirmed that 200 ash trees will be removed this year under a $265,800 contract with Carr’s Tree Service as part of an ongoing tree maintenance program, with costs rising due to larger trees and infestation risks (the project follows prior years’ trimming budgets).  Mankato Free Press
  • Vanessa's Law mandates that teens losing driving privileges for crash-related or alcohol violations must wait until 18 to reapply for a driver's license; those without licenses face similar restrictions if caught impaired.
