  • North Mankato’s Culture, Recreation and Quality of Life department will expand youth-focused programs in summer 2026 by offering a sports sampler and outdoor exploration camps while the Spring Lake Swim Facility stays closed for repairs after flood damage — they aim to rehire returning seasonal staff.  Mankato Free Press

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Mankato Area Public Schools will test new course options at middle and high schools in the 2026-27 school year as part of its Secondary Redesign Initiative. The program, developed with input from students + families and local businesses, aims to expand project-based education + concurrent college classes.  KEYC
  • Bethany Lutheran College in Mankato earned accreditation for its Clinical Mental Health Counseling master's program from CACREP, confirming it meets national standards in curriculum, clinical training and faculty qualifications (a milestone that helps graduates meet licensure requirements and opens doors with employers such as the Department of Veterans Affairs).  KEYC

  • Girls basketball semifinals are taking shape as Central and GSL advanced in Section 2AA while Sleepy Eye St. Mary’s beat Nicollet in Section 2A and will face BOLD at MSU on Friday; in NSIC men’s basketball, MSU lost to St. Cloud State.  KEYC
