- ➤ Truckers honored Landon Fox—who died in a February avalanche during a snowmobiling trip—with a two-mile convoy on Wednesday from Blue Earth County Road 147 to Pleasant View Cemetery. His obituary asked truckers to give him the sendoff he deserved by letting their Jake brakes do the talking. Mankato Free Press
- ➤ Bravo Zulu House is planning a women-only veterans’ sober house in Mankato set to open by the end of next year. Women veterans on the project’s advisory board, including Pamela Krill (a veteran), say the new facility builds on the success of their first sober home. KEYC
BUSINESS NEWS
- ➤ Dave’s Hot Chicken, a fast-growing chain backed by the Humphries family, will open a new franchise in Mankato later this year — renovating a shuttered fast food site. The expansion follows several successful metro openings and will offer locals another option for dining. Mankato Free Press
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Martin County West School District offered to buy back the Fox Lake Sports Complex in Welcome, set at $208,500, as the city pays about $15,000 yearly for its upkeep; a decision will come with school board and city council meetings next week, with a sale closing in about 30 days. KEYC
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Rick Ash, UHD’s longtime CEO with 37 years in health care, is retiring and will stay until a replacement is named by June. He grew the hospital’s staff and services in Blue Earth and plans to continue advocating for rural care (and enjoy 3D printing). KEYC
SPORTS NEWS
- ➤ Marshall girls basketball won the Section 2AAA title on Friday, as LSH celebrated Signing Day and prep athlete Russell shined during Waseca competitions (part of Winter Week 10 sports coverage). These events highlight local school sports achievements in an active regional scene. KEYC
- ➤ Gustavus, with a 25—2 record, will host Bethany in the NCAA Division III Men’s Basketball Tournament opening round today at 7:20 p.m. The game marks the teams’ first postseason clash at the home court. KEYC
