- ➤ Greater Mankato Area United Way held its first Tour of Giving on Tuesday, March 10 so donors could see how funds support nonprofits like housing shelters; record donations in February have set the stage for a mental health tour in June + further community engagement. KEYC
- ➤ Yesterday, 15 students from Immanuel Lutheran School volunteered at MRCI by organizing crafts and games for disabled adults as part of their Stewards of Grace program; they will host more spring and Easter-themed events in April. KEYC
- ➤ Terry Lanoue and volunteers at Watonwan County Humane Society in St. James are seeking dog helpers for shelter pups — while New Ulm’s Brown County Humane Society welcomes extra assistance before kitten season in April. Volunteers help with socializing pets and basic care. Mankato Free Press
- ➤ Pasta with the Padres, a community fundraiser hosted by local churches, will benefit ECHO Food Shelf on March 22 from 4 to 7 p.m. at St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church — organizers expect about 600 attendees and a goal of raising $20,000 to help address rising food insecurity. - ➤ Mankato Con will launch on Friday, Mar. 20 at the Mayo Clinic Health System Event Center with board games, trading-card tournaments and roleplaying sessions for tabletop gamers from southern Minnesota while proceeds support Minnesota Valley Action Council programs and plans for the event to become annual.
