- ➤ One year after Dennis Vosika died during his overnight shift at a local Kwik Trip, friends and family gathered at a vigil and embraced his #Live4Dennis motto to honor his kindness + his dream to open his own business. KEYC
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ MSU Mankato’s civil engineering department introduced its new Force Load Analyzer today, giving students a hands-on tool (funded by nearly one million dollars in department funds and private donations) to test materials like steel beams and concrete in class and future projects. KEYC
- ➤ Mankato Area Public Schools received a $45,000 grant from the Minnesota Department of Education to enhance access to life-saving equipment and staff training for cardiac emergencies — one of 31 statewide recipients selected. Mankato Free Press

- ➤ Earth Day events in April — the Deep Valley Trash Cleanup is at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 18 at Key City Bike on E. Vine St., a free Give and Take runs April 10 to 11 at the Vine Adult Community Center, and city park cleanup sign-ups end April 14. Mankato Free Press
SPORTS NEWS
- ➤ KEYC will air 10 Twins baseball games this season, starting with a home opener against Tampa Bay on April 3, on Fox Mankato and Northstar Sports. KEYC
- ➤ Mankato city officials reported that the annual in-city archery hunt from mid-September to New Year’s Eve at Rasmussen Woods Nature Area and other approved spots produced 34 deer, the highest in seven years, with 38 approved hunters & revised site standards guiding the selection. Free Oral Cancer Screenings in Mankato & Rochester
In honor of Oral, Head and Neck Cancer Awareness Month, Southeastern Minnesota Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery will offer free oral cancer screenings on April 16 from 2 pm to 4 pm at: 2519 Commerce Drive NW, Suite 110, Rochester, Minn., 55901; and 1410 Madison Avenue, Mankato, Minn., 56001. To participate, arrive at one of the clinics during the designated times and ask for a free cancer screening.
