- ➤ Area residents observing Ramadan invite community members to join a free Iftar meal at Wisdom House of Mankato at 7:35 p.m. Saturday at 222 E. Walnut St.—a 6:30 p.m. program will provide information on fasting, prayer and Ramadan traditions. Mankato Free Press
- ➤ A public meeting is scheduled from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Pioneer Bank (1450 Adams St) to discuss the future of the Our Lady of Good Counsel campus. Southwest Minnesota Housing Partnership, which recently entered a purchase agreement for the campus with the School Sisters of Notre Dame Pacific Province, will gather community input on redevelopment plans. - ➤ Mankato Department of Public Safety reported a house fire at 105 Chatsworth Drive on Wednesday that caused damage expected to exceed $300,000+emergency crews responded after a 911 call from Mankato East High School and quickly extinguished heavy flames from a second-story window+no one was injured. - ➤ Michael Lee Miller (28) was charged with 2nd degree murder with intent after fatally stabbing Kwik Trip employee Dennis Vosika (34) at the Madison Avenue store early Tuesday morning. KEYC
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ South Central College held a Health Sciences Open House at its North Mankato campus on Wednesday evening from 5 to 8 p.m. (Visitors took self-guided tours, met faculty, and received information on 12 health sciences programs, financial aid, and college applications.) KEYC
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ MnDOT will hold an open house on April 1 (4-6 p.m.) at Lake Crystal City Hall to discuss plans for reconstructing Highway 60 from Blue Earth County Road 20 to Blue Earth County Road 112 and making utility and bridge repairs. Construction will begin in mid-to-late April and continue until fall as traffic detours are implemented. Mankato Free Press

- ➤ A meeting at the Blue Earth County Historical Society in Mankato on Tuesday night drew about 30 people who heard that deep Medicaid cuts being considered in Washington could hurt kids, seniors, and those with disabilities. Lawmakers and health care leaders warned that these cuts may force hospitals to shoulder more costs — a challenge for local providers. Mankato Free Press
