ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ Mankato Fire crews responded Wednesday at 10:50 p.m. to a stove fire at Riverfront Studio Suites on N. Riverfront Dr and quickly ventilated the affected apartment after a sprinkler activated, evacuating sleeping residents who were relocated to a nearby motel; property damage is estimated at $30,000 and the cause remains under investigation. - ➤ A 28-year-old Shakopee man, Damon Aaron Knight, was injured when his bicycle and a 2021 GMC Sierra crashed on Highway 13 north of Waterville at 8:56 p.m. on Wednesday—he was treated for non-life-threatening injuries at a New Prague hospital while the pickup driver, Xiaobo Yang of Mankato, was not injured amid wet road conditions. - ➤ A Rochester man, 44, was taken to Mayo Clinic Health System after his 2011 Hino box truck rolled on a highway ramp in North Mankato around 8:45 a.m. Thursday — he lost control while merging onto Highway 169 as road conditions were dry and alcohol was not a factor. KEYC
- ➤ A 28-year-old bicyclist was injured Wednesday night when he was hit by a 2021 GMC Sierra on Highway 13 near Waterville Road in Le Sueur County—he suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to New Prague Hospital while the truck driver and passenger were not hurt. KEYC

- ➤ Starting this fall, students from South Central College’s Office Administration and Technology program who meet the requirements will be able to transfer to Winona State University to earn a business education teacher degree—addressing a local need for professionals—after finishing 60 credits. - ➤ At Rasmussen University on Thursday, 27 nursing graduates got their pins and will start working soon, with some already having job offers. Nearly half of the graduates are men, and former Marine Colin Kelley said his background gives him a new way to care for patients—helping meet a high need for nurses. KEYC
