Here's your local news at a glance for Sunday, the 30th of March.
Good morning, Mankato.
💼 Business
Workers are now required to return to the office either part time or full time by private companies and government offices.
Many organizations expect issues with office space and equipment as they balance cost savings with keeping work steady.
🎓 Education
Kailen Roeder from Le Sueur changed his college plans when his dad told him about the North Star Promise Scholarship—an aid program that started in fall and helps lower-income residents pay tuition by covering remaining costs after other aid is applied.
He is attending South Central College in North Mankato tuition-free and will likely transfer to a four-year institution after he graduates this fall.
🏛️ Government
The Minnesota State Patrol advises new drivers to stop fully at stop signs by stopping before the marked line (or pedestrian crosswalk) and yielding to pedestrians, bicyclists, and traffic.
They add that if a driver’s view is blocked, they should be ready to stop again for safety.
🏈 Sports
The Minnesota State softball team beat UMary 8 to 0 in five innings on March 29.
Maddie Oetzmann struck out five (helping the team improve to a 7 to 2 conference record).
On Friday, locals took part in the C & N Entertainment Team Dart Tournament at the Mayo Clinic Health System Event Center where machines lit up after wins and cheers filled the room.
About 1,300 players have joined the season-ending tournament that runs through today with competitors from Mankato & nearby areas.
