- ➤ The South Central Minnesota Gobblers are marking 26 years of conservation work in Martin and Faribault Counties with an annual fundraising banquet at Fairmont Best Western on Saturday, Apr. 11 (5 to 7 p.m.). The event will include raffles, games and a silent auction to support turkey conservation and education. KEYC

- ➤ Sheet metal workers at Jones Metal in Mankato struck after voting down a proposed contract over health care— their contract expired March 31 and they are picketing along 3rd Avenue— as the company continues negotiations. KEYC
- ➤ Schwickert’s, founded in 1906 as a hardware store, marks 120 years by expanding services to include roofing + HVAC, plumbing, and electrical work. President Derek Homrighausen said the company continues adapting to market needs through local workforce development and community partnerships. Mankato Free Press

- ➤ Country-western performer Clay Walker will perform in Mankato on Aug. 28 at Mayo Clinic Health System Event Center with Blackhawk joining the show, and presale tickets will be available starting Thursday at the center's ticket office and Ticketmaster.com. Mankato Free Press

- ➤ On Tuesday, April 7, Mankato West’s softball team defeated Faribault 12-0 in five innings, with Norah Davis striking out six while allowing one hit and Claire Roering driving in three runs. The team will face Northfield on Thursday, April 9. KEYC

Free Oral Cancer Screenings in Mankato & Rochester
In honor of Oral, Head and Neck Cancer Awareness Month, Southeastern Minnesota Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery will offer free oral cancer screenings on April 16 from 2 pm to 4 pm at: 2519 Commerce Drive NW, Suite 110, Rochester, Minn., 55901; and 1410 Madison Avenue, Mankato, Minn., 56001. To participate, arrive at one of the clinics during the designated times and ask for a free cancer screening.
