- ➤ Earlier this week, about 100 people attended a weather spotting training session at South Central College in North Mankato — the National Weather Service and local emergency management led the event to teach safe storm watching. Meteorologist Todd Krause said the session helped spotters learn how to report severe weather to alert the public. Mankato Free Press

- ➤ A Mankato woman, Khadija Vanea Corsey, 30, faces felony second-degree assault and domestic assault charges after she allegedly stabbed a man with a steak knife on Tuesday, leading to his hospitalization, and her initial court appearance is set for April 17 — police noted her intoxication and resistance during arrest. SPORTS NEWS
- ➤ The Mankato East Cougars beat the Rochester Century Panthers 14 to 0+ and improved their record to 3 to 0 on Saturday afternoon. They will play on Monday, April 14th+ on the road at New Ulm. KEYC
- ➤ On April 12, the MSU softball team hosted Minnesota Duluth in a doubleheader; in the first game, Maddie Helin hit a walk-off three-run home run for a 7-4 win. UMD won the second game 15-6 in five innings, splitting the doubleheader. KEYC
- ➤ Minnesota State baseball swept Bemidji State on Saturday with wins of 7-0 and 16-2 in a doubleheader and will play another doubleheader today at noon. KEYC
- ➤ MSU track and field competed at the Minnesota State Open on Saturday, where the men’s team finished first out of nine teams and the women’s team finished first out of ten teams. The event was held in Mankato. KEYC
