Earlier this week, about 100 people attended a weather spotting training session at South Central College in North Mankato — the National Weather Service and local emergency management led the event to teach safe storm watching.

Meteorologist Todd Krause said the session helped spotters learn how to report severe weather to alert the public.

MSU track and field competed at the Minnesota State Open on Saturday, where the men’s team finished first out of nine teams and the women’s team finished first out of ten teams.
