- ➤ Jackpot Junction Casino Hotel in Morton restored its slot machines, bingo nights and loyalty programs Friday after a cyberattack disabled key systems— including those managed by the Lower Sioux Indian Community. Gamblers returned Sunday night and filled the casino floor—cybersecurity experts note that casinos remain frequent targets for hackers. Mankato Free Press

ECONOMY NEWS
- ➤ Elevated interest rates are slowing commercial development in Mankato and North Mankato but major projects are underway. Robert W Carlstrom Co. is managing a nearly $93 million project to build two downtown hotels — with demolition underway and bidding for site work coming soon— while local developer David Peters is building a 215-bed student housing complex at University Square and expanding local hotel capacity. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ North Mankato received $60,000 to fund a study of Lee Boulevard from Lookout Drive to Belgrade Avenue, which will look at flood mitigation, street access management, traffic control, lane configurations and improvements for bicyclists and pedestrians. The study began March 27 and will conclude in November. KEYC
- ➤ The Mankato City Council approved a reduced tax subsidy plan—$16,284 in annual tax increments over 15 years—to redevelop a 68-year-old building along Madison Avenue into a two-story office building that will boost its taxable value from $143,600 to more than $1 million and create 25 full-time jobs. Construction is set to be completed in 2026. Mankato Free Press
- ➤ Drivers using Highway 60 between Mankato and Madelia will follow a detour to County Road 13 and Highway 169 today as reconstruction in Lake Crystal begins, and the detour is set to stay in place through the fall – the $18.3M project rebuilds a section between Blue Earth County Road 20 and Blue Earth County Road 112, includes bridge repairs and intersection improvements, a pedestrian trail, and lighting – easing traffic during the work.
