- ➤ Curated by Liz Draper, the Live at the Carnegie listening series will feature Leyna Marika Papach performing her solo composition and then joining with Dameun Maurice Strange to form Waves on Saturday in Mankato, highlighting experimental music with a blend of strings, percussion plus electronics. - ➤ Mankato and St. Peter will host the annual Minnesota Alliance of Local History Museums conference from April 28-30, offering local tours, workshops, and presentations plus a free program by MPR’s North Star Journey Live — open to all — that highlights regional historical exhibits. - ➤ A 5K run is planned for Sunday at 10 a.m. at the Mankato Regional Airport to honor former MSU aviation professor Tom Peterson by raising scholarship funds for aviation students. Race day pricing is $50. Mankato Free Press
- ➤ Three Mankato East athletes signed their National Letter of Intent on Wednesday, marking a milestone in their journey toward college sports. KEYC
- ➤ Over 1500 sophomores from 17 area schools attended an annual career expo on Wednesday, where local businesses offered equipment demonstrations and interview tips. The event served as a first look at different career paths + an early recruitment opportunity. KEYC
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ A reconstruction project in St. Clair will close road sections on the east side from Agency Street to 185th Street and a segment of County Road 173 starting Monday until September, as the county updates water and sewer systems. Traffic on East Main Street will detour via County Roads 49+23, 28 and Highway 83. Mankato Free Press

- ➤ Minnesota State won a doubleheader against Augustana on Wednesday in Mankato, improving its record to 27 wins and 8 losses. The Mavericks face the Vikings in game three later today at home. KEYC

Free Oral Cancer Screenings in Mankato & Rochester
In honor of Oral, Head and Neck Cancer Awareness Month, Southeastern Minnesota Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery will offer free oral cancer screenings on April 16 from 2 pm to 4 pm at: 2519 Commerce Drive NW, Suite 110, Rochester, Minn., 55901; and 1410 Madison Avenue, Mankato, Minn., 56001. To participate, arrive at one of the clinics during the designated times and ask for a free cancer screening.
