- ➤ Mankato Area Public Schools Community Education announced its 2026 Spirit of Youth Award winners today. The honorees, recognized for making a difference in young lives, will be celebrated at Lincoln Community Center on May 27 at 6:00 p.m. Mankato Free Press

- ➤ Local bird experts say spring migration will peak early to mid May as many species return to nest. Professor Chad Heins and avid birder Tim Pulis note hummingbirds and cardinals will soon fill local skies (a sign of healthy habitat). Mankato Free Press

- ➤ The City Council revoked Los Dos Primos’ liquor license at midnight after multiple infractions, including serving underage patrons and failing to pay taxes — the restaurant may restore its license if it clears back taxes and meets state requirements. Mankato Free Press

- ➤ Mankato girls lacrosse defeated Rochester John Marshall by a final score of 8 — 6 on Monday at home, marking their second win in three match-ups. KEYC
