- ➤ Sam Simon, 80, will perform his one-act play Dementia Man at VINE Faith In Action at 1 p.m. Friday to share his experience with Alzheimer’s; a Q&A session with his wife follows for those who register (by Thursday). Mankato Free Press
ECONOMY NEWS
- ➤ Gas prices have risen across Minnesota over the past week, with the statewide average now at $4.05 a gallon — 26 cents higher than last week and nearly $1.10 more than this time last year. Diesel prices are also trending upward nationally. KEYC
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ North Mankato approved a joint powers agreement on Monday, May 4 to join regional partners in implementing the Minnesota River–Mankato Comprehensive Watershed Management Plan. The measure will support funding coordination for water quality, flood mitigation and soil conservation over the next 10 years. Mankato Free Press
- ➤ North Mankato officials approved a new Active Transportation Action Plan last month that seeks to boost walking, biking and rolling options and improve safety at intersections and trails. The 107-page plan outlines short- to long-term projects (like temporary traffic calming) to reduce car dependency while serving local needs. Mankato Free Press
