- ➤ A group of Mankato radio stations has a new owner as pending federal approval lets Connoisseur Media buy Alpha Media's stations Country 103-5, Z99, River 105 and Rock 95. The deal is expected to close in the second half of the year - financial details were not disclosed. KEYC
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Mankato Police arrested a 16-year-old boy after responding just after 7:30 p.m. on Sunday to reports of a stabbing at 2nd Street and Adams Street that left an 18-year-old man seriously injured, with the victim stable after hospital treatment and authorities not seeking additional suspects. KEYC
ECONOMY NEWS
- ➤ Greater Mankato Growth is accepting applications for construction grants totaling over $700,000 to cover up to thirty percent of construction costs for projects in downtown, Highway 169 and Highway 14 areas. Eligible applicants must submit forms by June 1 and complete projects by next June 30—previous rounds funded projects such as Silos Apartments and Crumble Cookie—and support local economic revival. EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ The Mankato School Board approved Educare grants of $44,952 in Educare Initiative funds and $15,987 in Ed Waltman funds on Monday to support school projects for the 2025-26 year—these include a student-run store at Mankato West, a sensory room at Monroe Elementary, and agriculture learning for 500 elementary students at Camp Ignite this summer. - ➤ South Central College is hosting transfer open houses today at its North Mankato campus from 3 to 6 p.m. and will hold another event on Thursday at its Faribault campus, where students can meet faculty and transfer program representatives + pick up refreshments and information on starting a bachelor’s degree. - ➤ Bethany Lutheran College will hold its commencement ceremony at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the Mayo Clinic Health System Event Center after moving the event from campus to fit more graduates — 118 undergraduates and 19 master's degree candidates.
