- ➤ St. Peter’s Paddlefish Brewing, started last year by two recent college graduates, won a World Beer Cup gold medal for its Vinter Liv Scandinavian Raw Ale brewed with birch leaves and juniper berries. The brewery will host a party on June 1 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.—beer will be served until the keg runs out. Mankato Free Press

- ➤ The Mankato Symphony Orchestra has signed Ernesto Estigarribia Mussi to a five-year contract—he will continue as music director and conductor as the orchestra prepares for its 75th season. Hired in July 2022 after a nationwide search, Mussi has expanded concert offerings to Fairmont, Mapleton and New Ulm and will work with executive director Bethel Balge and director of operations Benji Inniger to develop the upcoming season. - ➤ Mankato West High will remove its historic girls softball diamond to create parking and space for new building work scheduled to finish in fall 2027—today’s Alumni Night game against Le Sueur Henderson will include a sendoff featuring a first pitch by longtime coach Don Krusemark and a brief ceremony.
