CULTURE NEWS

  • Mankato officials will allow shuttle buses to transport guests for up to 10 upcoming events at the historic Chapel of Our Lady of Good Counsel, with rides starting at the Kato Ballroom & easing parking challenges during concerts, weddings and other gatherings.  Mankato Free Press

EDUCATION NEWS

  • MSU Mankato has been seeking to replace Armstrong Hall, one of its oldest and most deteriorated buildings. The $95-million project was left unfunded in the bonding bill, so the university will regroup with alternative fundraising and scaled plans for future funding.  KEYC

HEALTH NEWS

  • Birchwood Cottages opened its second memory care facility on Tuesday, May 19 at the corner of Lee Boulevard and Lor Ray Drive to expand housing for people with dementia. The new facility added 32 studio apartments in six models and held a 3–6 p.m. open house to welcome families.  KEYC

REAL ESTATE NEWS

  • City officials and SWMHP scaled back the Good Counsel project today as parking stalls fell short of the required 170, approving 51 apartments plus five guest suites while future phases await necessary parking upgrades to address concerns from Loyola and local stakeholders.  Mankato Free Press

  • Bethany Lutheran College baseball is headed to the NCAA Super Regionals in a best-of-three series starting Friday at 11:00 a.m. after winning a Regional Championship with wins of 8-2 over Luther and 8-7 against the defending national champion.  KEYC
