- ➤ Today, North Mankato’s splash pad opens with hours from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. next to Fallenstein Playground (on Howard Drive), and Spring Lake Park Pool will open on June 6 while Mankato’s Tourtellotte Pool and St. Peter’s public pool open on May 30 with New Ulm’s wading pools starting on June 4. - ➤ Hebron Cemetery was renovated with over $23,000 spent to remove an old fence and replant a new lawn for its 474 graves dating from 1872 to 1932. Locals will see the updated grounds at a Memorial Day ceremony at 2 p.m. Monday, May 26 — where Navy veteran Steve Dahl and his wife Melva will honor those who served. Mankato Free Press

- ➤ The 8th Annual Greater Mankato Juneteenth Celebration will move to the Centennial Student Union Open Mall on June 19 due to a conflict with Songs on the Lawn; it will be free to attend. The event will start at 3 p.m. with a Freedom Walk and include local speakers, live music, family activities, and a Black-owned expo— all designed to honor history and promote community equity. - ➤ Rock band Durry filmed their new music video at Pagliai’s Pizza in Kato when the restaurant closed on Mondays—using a fake setup called Papa Durry’s Pizza with a real phone number to complete the look. - ➤ St. Peter High School seniors Isam Ibrahim and Logan Pherson launched three final rockets Friday—marking the last aerospace club event before they graduate—and they hope future students will keep the tradition alive as they head to college. Mankato Free Press
- ➤ MSU is updating its exchange program with the University of Seoul to include more faculty opportunities along with the summer study programs that began in 2018. MSU Dean Will Coghill-Behrends and University of Seoul Vice President Minchan Pyo said the updated agreement will balance opportunities—ensuring both incoming and outgoing students gain a global experience. - ➤ Mankato will host several Memorial Day ceremonies on Monday, May 26, including events at the Korean War Memorial at 8:00 a.m. and at the WWII Memorial at 1:00 p.m.; city offices, banks and the postal service will be closed in honor of the holiday. KEYC

- ➤ Dawn Clauson of North Mankato said her seasonal allergies have gotten worse, causing her eyes to itch and run so she packs her medications (Allegra, inhaler and nebulizer) when she travels.
