- ➤ Volunteers at the Mankato Curling Club coordinated donation drop-offs on Tuesday as the Blue Earth Nicollet County Humane Society prepares its plant and rummage sale for Thursday through Saturday. Donations are accepted daily from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. until today to support veterinary care & shelter operations. Mankato Free Press
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ During Tuesday’s meeting, the Blue Earth County Board approved two major projects. They awarded the County Road 139 bridge replacement bid of $625,822 to M&K Bridge Construction Inc.—which saved the county about $100,000—while giving a $3,383,383 bid to BCM Construction Inc. for improvements on Roads 15 and 28, with most work scheduled for this year and some extending into 2026. - ➤ The Martin County West softball team beat New Ulm Cathedral 1-0 Tuesday and will play USC in the Section 2A title game Thursday. KEYC
- ➤ Mankato East softball defeated St. Peter 8-3 on Tuesday to advance to the Section 2AAA championship game — the team will face New Ulm twice on Thursday, May 29 at 5:00 p.m. to try to return to the state tournament. KEYC
