ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ A 66-year-old Madelia resident, Mary Angeline Mccabe, was injured when her 2021 Ford Escape hit a 2023 Freightliner in a construction zone between Lake Crystal & Mankato at 3:13 p.m. Monday and she was treated for non-life-threatening injuries at Madelia Health Hospital while the semi driver from Sherburne was not injured. CRIME NEWS
- ➤ A Mapleton man was found dead in his home on the 200 block of West Silver Street early Tuesday, and law enforcement took a male suspect into custody after deputies responded to a report near Terrace View Golf Course along Highway 22 — another resident was also arrested for related charges— while investigators continue their homicide probe and said there is no danger to the public. - ➤ Mankato Man runs a Facebook page that mixes funny posts with urgent local updates and started it during the pandemic. He posts many times a day—always checking details with neighbors—while keeping his identity secret and facing online trolls. Mankato Free Press
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ This summer, on-demand bus rides in Mankato and North Mankato begin Monday and run weekdays from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. until Aug. 15, picking up riders at their homes for trips to parks, schools, and other destinations. Youths ride free with next-day reservations—adults pay $2 for a one-way ride, $4 for round trips, and flex passes are available at the Intergovernmental Center. Mankato Free Press
- ➤ North Mankato City Council approved a new mixed-use zoning district to help with the shortage of land available for commercial development as part of the 2023 Comprehensive Plan. The new rules stop residential building and set limits on setbacks, ground coverage and building heights—no public comments were made at Monday’s meeting. Mankato Free Press
