- ➤ The third Mankato Art Crawl held on Saturday featured over 100 artists along Riverfront Drive as the event expanded into North Mankato to offer activities such as Mexican block print and community painting—raising funds for Old Town Mankato Day of the Dead. Mankato Free Press
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Starting Monday, Mankato Area Public Schools will run the USDA Summer Food Service Program to provide free healthy meals for children under 18. Meals will be served at Eagle Lake Elementary, East High School, Franklin Elementary, Hoover Elementary, Rosa Parks Elementary and Center for Learning which opens on June 12, from 7:30 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. for breakfast and from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. — the program welcomes all children regardless of school enrollment to help address growing food insecurity amid rising inflation. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Blue Earth County Board will vote Tuesday on an affordable housing proposal recommending a community land trust program to build 10 new homes and ask for $150,000 (pending matching grant funds) from the Economic Development Authority. The board will also vote on buying two pieces of equipment (a crawler dozer for $642,650 and a crawler loader for $740,000 scheduled for spring 2026). Mankato Free Press
