- ➤ In St. Peter, Beau-Jacob Edward Zimmer (45) pleaded guilty to a felony escape charge after he cut off his ankle monitor with a kitchen knife and fled on a bicycle on May 9; he was sentenced to a year’s probation by Nicollet County District Court. Mankato Free Press

- ➤ MSU Mankato announced two new degree programs starting this fall—one offering a bachelor’s degree in robotics engineering and the other a master’s degree in artificial intelligence, the first in the Minnesota State System—designed to meet strong industry and student demand. KEYC

- ➤ Brown County sheriff's deputies will join a border-to-border speed saturation campaign on Highway 14, Highway 19, and Highway 60 starting on the eve of July Fourth — continuing through Sept. 2 to reduce speeding as coordinated by the Minnesota Department of Public Safety’s Office of Traffic Safety. Motorists can expect extra patrols on these roads during one of the 100 deadliest days on Minnesota roadways. Mankato Free Press
