- ➤ At Pinewood Stable in St. Peter, kids have enjoyed summer camps that taught horse riding and care through rotating stations—offering riding lessons, classroom sessions, and crafts. New camps are scheduled for July 14 to 17 for grades 2 to 6 and August 4 to 7 plus a session from August 18 to 21 through Mankato Community Education, each costing $250 with an enrollment limit of 24 campers. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ City leaders are preparing the 2026 budget as slower new development is expected to grow tax revenue by only 1.28% instead of the forecasted 3%, leaving a projected $550,000 gap in the general fund. City Manager Susan Arntz said officials will decide whether to raise property taxes or reduce spending before the budget is finalized later this autumn—choices that may affect local services. HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ An annual report from the Minnesota Department of Health showed that Mayo Clinic Health System in Mankato reported 15 adverse events in a 12‑month period ending Oct. 6, and state data recorded the smallest increase in such incidents since before COVID-19—health officials noted a 44% drop in medication errors and are planning new surgical safety protocols for next year.
