Good morning, Mankato.
🏘️ Community
After six years in storage, the 153-year-old Kern Bridge is being reassembled in Mankato to create a new pedestrian and bike trail link between Sibley and Land of Memories parks; project work is on schedule with the bridge set to open this autumn.
John Heimerl's crew from E and J Steel Erectors reassembled the historic Kern Bridge at Land of Memories Park on June 3, and the 189 foot arch will be lifted onto its piers mid-August — a project funded by Blue Earth County and federal grants.
🎭 Culture
Eight DCI groups competed at the Kiwanis Thunder of Drums event held at Blakeslee Stadium, with local bands and a sold-out crowd enjoying the competition.
The event's committee meets monthly and plans to expand seating in a new stadium by 2028.

SWMHP will construct eight affordable homes on a six-acre parcel east of Tourtellotte Park — a former cattle pasture owned by the School Sisters — as part of a land trust plan scheduled to break ground next year.
