- ➤ After Congress passed the 'One Big Beautiful Bill' on July 3, colleges began analyzing its federal loan changes and new Pell Grant adjustments (which now include part-time eligibility) that will take effect July 1, 2026. College leaders at Minnesota State and South Central stressed that uncertainty over measures like eliminating Graduate Direct Plus loans and capping loans to the cost of attendance (which may not cover all expenses) poses challenges for families and students. - ➤ At Caswell Park over Fourth of July weekend, Mankato’s Peppers National team came from a 0-2 deficit to win 6-2 against the Minnesota Elite in the championship game of the Peppers Classic.
