- ➤ Lucas Wertish joined the River Valley Disc Golf league after founder Toby Turbes invited him to play at a park in the Greater Mankato area, where players of all levels join in friendly games. The league, founded in 2022, uses a bag tag system—where winners earn bragging rights and funds support local course improvements—to build an inclusive community. Mankato Free Press
- ➤ Families gathered at Christ the King Lutheran Church on Tuesday for the New American Families graduation where children completed the program to prepare for kindergarten in September — about 30 families attended. Program manager Kristina Spindahl said new funding will expand the program from 24 to 34 families as more immigrant and refugee families join the community — the celebration marked a milestone for the long-running support effort. - ➤ A Mankato woman riding her Harley Davidson lost control on Highway 68 in New Ulm Sunday afternoon after reportedly being under the influence and not wearing a helmet—she sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to Hennepin County Medical Center. Mankato Free Press
