- ➤ North Mankato City Council unanimously approved a change order that increased the All Seasons Arena project cost by $37,243.52 and reduced the contingency fund from $152,545.20 to $115,301.68—officials said the work remains on schedule with completion expected in late August or early September. - ➤ The North Mankato City Council delayed a permit for a proposed cannabis retail store at 300 Belgrade Ave until Aug. 4 so full attendance could address concerns over parking capacity and building suitability. Applicant Madeline Peck of Cornflower Blue Properties and co-owner Preston Perreault, who also run Hi-Tech Clouds Vape Shop, received preliminary state license approval and now face local business worries—such as increased traffic and neighborhood impact. - ➤ On Monday, the Mankato Area Public Schools board voted to boost funding for a long-term facility maintenance plan and an indoor air quality project that will improve fire suppression at Kennedy and Hoover elementary and upgrade HVAC systems at other schools; the plan adds $600,000 per year to the levy over the next 10 years and uses bonds for over $37 million in upgrades, which may raise taxes by about $100 for a $300,000 home.
