Hickory St to serve individuals facing housing instability, offering beds from 8 p.m. to 8 a.m. through the end of August while local nonprofits and city officials work toward a more permanent 24/7 solution—staff say additional services like showers and snacks may be added as demand grows. - ➤ South Central College and Taylor Corp. ran a six‐week printing workshop at Occasions Group in North Mankato where six neurodivergent students from the Uniquely Abled Academy learned printing press skills and practiced job interviews—program officials say the training helps prepare them for future work. - ➤ Mankato received nearly 6 inches of rain in about 6 hours on Wednesday night, which flooded streets and forced evacuations at Homestead Apartments where low-income families lost belongings—city officials reported that water on roads cleared within 20 minutes and motorists faced short detours.
