  • On Saturday at 1:30 p.m., 30 motorcyclists gathered at the Wolfe residence in Mankato to honor Cade Wolfe, who died when his helicopter crashed during a military training exercise in November 2023. Wheels of Honor members — led by Vice President Jim Woodruff — showed support for the Wolfe family and ensured his sacrifice was not forgotten.  Mankato Free Press

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • A 52-year-old North Mankato man died when a Chevrolet Equinox and an eastbound Harley Davidson collided at 3:45 p.m. Saturday on Highway 14 in Brown County near Springfield—state patrol officials said the 63-year-old driver of the Equinox was uninjured.  Mankato Free Press

  • Noah Schmid, a 22-year-old local bagpiper who began playing during COVID boredom, will play 'Scotland the Brave' today at the International Softball Congress Hall of Fame Breakfast at the Mayo Clinic Health System Event Center in Mankato—continuing a rare tradition. He has also started offering bagpipe lessons as his unique talent gains local interest.  Mankato Free Press

  • The Lake Crystal Ostrander Norsemen will compete in the International Softball Congress World Tournament at Caswell Park from today to Aug. 2 as they aim to earn strong local support. Manager Zegler — who hosts seven foreign players at his Chanhassen home for team dinners — will retire after the tournament.  Mankato Free Press
