A former business professor from Gustavus Adolphus College pleaded guilty to wire fraud in a federal courtroom on Thursday after embezzling over $670,000 from a Wyoming real estate company.

He used the funds for luxury purchases — his sentencing is scheduled for Dec. 1.

The Mankato-North Mankato area reported 58,756 nonfarm jobs in July, a 1.1% decline from the previous month yet a 5.3% gain over last year—adding 2,963 jobs in the private sector.

Data shows education and health services increased by 5,400 jobs while government roles dropped, indicating a steady local job market.

Cambria’s ESL program began in 2015 to help non-English speaking workers move into better roles at its Le Sueur facility; Manuel Moreno Pérez, who graduated in 2016 and now leads a team, is one example of over 500 participants gaining skills as the program expands to include GED and business training. The initiative uses free, paid instruction to improve communication and boost employee advancement plus strengthen overall workplace safety.
