- ➤ Centenary United Methodist Church has hosted Nature Church services outdoors at Bluff Park where participants enjoy a silent hike and shared reflections. The church will hold the next session on August 23—featuring optional Communion and a re-earthing ceremony—to help people connect with nature. Mankato Free Press

- ➤ The city of Waseca closed Clear Lake beaches and boat ramps, Rice Lake, Gaiter Lake, Watkins Lake, Moonan Marsh and Crane Creek on Aug 17th after an emergency wastewater discharge, and officials warned that the water may be contaminated and pose a health risk — residents should avoid contact until further notice. - ➤ The American Red Cross will hold its 19th annual Rock—N—Roll Up Your Sleeve Blood Drive Sept.2–5 at The Pond on Madison in Mankato to boost the blood supply, with donation hours on Sept.2 from noon to 6 p.m., on Sept.3 and Sept.4 from 10:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., and on Sept.5 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.—donors will receive a coupon for a free pint of Culver’s frozen custard and a Snoopy T-shirt when supplies last.
