- ➤ At a North Mankato City Council meeting Monday, residents raised concerns about environmental reviews for a planned big data center and urged officials to rethink the project — the cities now face a lawsuit from the Minnesota Center for Environmental Advocacy. KEYC
- ➤ LeSueur Police Department said Officer Karl Haugen passed unexpectedly while off duty and had served the community since 2008 in both part-time and full-time roles, and his loss has deeply affected his department & his family. KEYC

- ➤ On Monday, MSU Student Government President Andrew Colleran counted on two hands the number of online sites students needed to track as he spoke at the convocation at the university — his remarks highlighted the challenge of keeping up with digital communication. Mankato Free Press
- ➤ Retired industrial arts teacher Allen Mohr of North Mankato died on July 29 at age 92 after battling ALS and more than 50 years in local schools. He inspired many to work safely with their hands—helping save students from the scrap pile—and his legacy guides local careers. Mankato Free Press

- ➤ Blue Earth County Board approved a resolution Tuesday to issue a bond to pay for a new public works facility that will cost about $43 million with up to $30.57 million borrowed and repaid over 20 years. The project began last February after local approval and is expected to finish early 2026—despite an ongoing lawsuit from property owners. Mankato Free Press

Tina Smith toured the remodeled Maplewood Apartments in St. Peter on Tuesday to inspect updated kitchens, modern flooring, and new safety features at the 30-unit affordable housing complex—she noted its nearly 94% occupancy as a model for rural housing solutions.
