- ➤ Adams Street near River Hills Mall is being fixed by WW Blacktopping, so shoppers face slow traffic as detour signs guide them to a back door entrance near Victory Drive—drivers usually use the closed Sioux Road route. The work started this week and will reopen the main entrance at the end of September while the intersection at Adams and Raintree stays closed until mid-October. Mankato Free Press

- ➤ Troy Lavern Nielsen (38) from Madison Lake was convicted of fifth degree assault in Blue Earth County District Court after using a metal car jack in a fight and will serve three days in jail with a year of probation. Mankato Free Press
- ➤ A Blue Earth man, Gavin Vincent Barnett, 23, was charged with animal torture and assault after he shot farm cats and pigs during a domestic dispute on Sept. 3—he is set to face trial in Faribault County District Court. Mankato Free Press

- ➤ Circus Classic arrived Friday night at Blue Earth County Fairgrounds with a big top, high-flying stunts, and costumes that thrilled local families—shows continue today and will extend through Sunday as the Liebel family-run circus entertains audiences. Mankato Free Press
- ➤ Today, the Hermann Monument Society presents HermannFest in New Ulm to honor the iconic monument—events start at 11:30 a.m. at Hermann Heights and continue at Harman Park with live music until 11:30 p.m., food and beer vendors on site, and fireworks over the monument at 8:30 p.m. marking the celebration.
