  • 98-year-old Evelyn Horwath from Mankato published Vesle Stubben: The Story of Little Lissi, a book that recounts her childhood during the Great Depression with both true memories and fictionalized details—she is now planning a sequel and the book is available at Bethany Lutheran College bookstore.  Mankato Free Press

SPORTS NEWS

  • Thousands of runners are competing today in the 26.2-mile Mankato Marathon that takes runners through downtown — past open country and the Minnesota State University campus. Veteran runner Joe Buckentine is running his 127th race and Taylor Maiers trained quickly in honor of her mother’s cancer battle.  Mankato Free Press
  • The Mankato East girls soccer team earned its fourth trip to State by beating St. Peter in the Section 2AA championship and finished with a 14-2-2 record—showing a 64-goal differential—led by key players Laina Peterson and Ella Quist. The team will now prepare for the state tournament.  KEYC
