- ➤ Carol Regnier, 72, needed help with yard work and volunteers assisted her today during the Eagle Lake Helping Hands event — a collaboration with the Blue Earth County Sheriff’s Office and Eagle Lake Area Lions Club that gathered 48 helpers across 14 yards. Local youth pitched in and residents praised the project for easing the load on older community members. Mankato Free Press
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Mankato Area Public Schools and the Mankato Teachers Association reached an agreement on a new teacher contract for 2025—2027 that well exceeded the 60% voter requirement set by MTA bylaws. The contract will be ratified at the school board meeting on Monday at 5:30 p.m. Mankato Free Press

- ➤ Blue Earth and Nicollet County officials have asked residents to support Operation Green Light for Veterans by setting up green bulbs in their front windows—an effort led by local Veterans Service Officers to recognize veteran service. The campaign runs from Sunday through Nov. 11 and will help highlight resources for veterans and their families. Mankato Free Press
- ➤ MVAC is keeping its Head Start program funded through March despite the government shutdown, and it is accepting Energy Assistance Program applications that will restart when federal funding returns—clients may see changes if the shutdown lasts longer. KEYC
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ MANKATO — Minnesota State University will provide free hearing, speech and assistive-device support to active, reserve and retired military on Nov. 13 during its Health for Heroes event. Walk-ins can receive physical fitness assessments, blood pressure screenings and nutrition information from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Clinical Science Building. Mankato Free Press

- ➤ Waseca football beat Luverne 31-12 on Friday to clinch a berth in the Class AAA state tournament — the Bluejays will compete in the upcoming state round. KEYC
- ➤ Jackson County Central won the Section 3AA championship Friday night — they beat Le Sueur-Henderson 30-6 in a game led by quarterback Roman Voss and receiver Evan Bartholomaus, earning them a trip to the Class AA State Tournament. KEYC
- ➤ GFW football lost the Section 2A title game to Lester Prairie on Friday — Lester Prairie won 30-6 and now advances to state. KEYC
- ➤ Minnesota State soccer clinched the NSIC regular season title on Friday as they defeated Augustana 2 to 0 in Mankato (Courtney Kovacs and Addison Clarey scored in the second half), leaving the Mavericks unbeaten. KEYC
