- ➤ Habitat for Humanity South Central Minnesota is planning its first veteran build in Eagle Lake for an active duty or retired veteran—eligible applicants can apply now with no deadline. The home closing will be set 12 to 18 months after approval as the organization honors service members through the project. Mankato Free Press
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Mankato State University Dietetics program volunteers prepared 136 nutritious meals for food insecure students after collecting nearly $500 in donations led by Professor Emma Smith. The group will provide additional healthy meals as cuts to food assistance programs continue - using well-balanced recipes with whole grains, proteins and healthy fats. KEYC
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Voters in Cleveland passed a narrow referendum to raise the operating levy by $750 per student over 10 years—reversing last year's 190-vote loss—while Nicollet voters approved both an operating levy hike and a bond for facility repairs. Meanwhile, Madelia passed two funding measures for school renovations and Sibley East's proposal to raise its levy was defeated. Mankato Free Press

- ➤ The Waterville-Elysian-Morristown football team is 10-0 and will play in the Class AA state tournament later this week against Goodhue—its first state appearance since 2011. The team averages nearly 40 points per game. KEYC
