  • MSU Mankato’s annual sock drive, run by Mavs in Action since 2020, collected over 5,000 socks and underwear—far exceeding its goal of 1,000 and breaking last year’s record—and the items will be donated to local shelters such as CADA, Partners for Housing, and the Salvation Army.  KEYC

CULTURE NEWS

  • Liz Draper started her Live at Carnegie Series to bring new music to Mankato with a performance by the Charles Gorczynski Tango Quartet scheduled for tomorrow—this group will play both traditional and modern tango styles and may include a dance demonstration if enough people attend.  Mankato Free Press

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Mankato did not appear on Explore Minnesota's list but tourism remains strong as record event participation and high hotel occupancy drive local growth. The city redirected part of its lodging tax revenue to support Visit Mankato & the civic center, boosting regional economic activity.  Mankato Free Press

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Mankato Area Public Schools announced a time change for a STEAM focus school session at Rosa Parks Elementary — it now begins at 7:15 p.m. Tuesday.  Mankato Free Press
