Will Coghill-Behrends opened the Mankato Area International Festival with a strong message of support for MSU's international students—despite earlier visa challenges.

The event drew hundreds and highlighted growing enrollment from Japan, Ivory Coast, Nepal, and Brazil.

At Prairie Winds Middle School, teacher Brett Riss and conservation partners cleared invasive brush from derelict prairie plots using chainsaws, rakes, and chemical treatments as they prepare to plant native species in the coming weeks—this project is part of the Mankato Area Stewardship Program that links local schools with conservation experts. The program also supports similar hands-on restoration efforts at other district schools.
