- ➤ The Greater Mankato Area United Way and the Salvation Army hosted a soup social at the Salvation Army Dining Hall to show what it takes to assist the unhoused. The event featured donated meals from Olive Garden, a panel led by community advocate Jenn Valimont, and local shelter leaders sharing their experiences—highlighting efforts from local organizations. - ➤ Mankato YMCA and Kiwanis Holiday Lights have partnered to host a 5K race today in Sibley Park, marking the first race in four years to support local nonprofits and the YMCA’s Strive for All Program — over 150 runners are expected to participate while nearly 100,000 visitors view the holiday lights and registration remains open until start time tomorrow at 4:30 p.m. KEYC
- ➤ On Give to the Max Day Thursday, local nonprofits raised much-needed funds for community services. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The Minnesota Department of Agriculture urged local buyers to purchase Christmas trees from nearby farms to help prevent invasive species—moths, tree diseases, and other hitchhikers—and advised proper tree disposal after the season ends. - ➤ MSU is hosting the Kato Clash Grand Championships today and tomorrow at the Maverick Esports Facility—college esports teams from 12 schools across seven states will compete with more than 200 people expected. - ➤ The Minnesota State men’s hockey team hosted Michigan Tech on Nov. 21 and won 3-0 in a shutout. KEYC
- ➤ MSU women’s soccer won 2-0 against Harding in the NCAA tournament on Nov. 21 and will face Washburn on Sunday as they advance to the next round. The win sets the stage for the Mavericks to build momentum in the tournament. KEYC
- ➤ Minnesota State football coach Todd Hoffner said the team will face Findlay in the NCAA tournament while the hockey squad will play Michigan Tech this weekend and the basketball team holds a 4 to 1 record—all as the Mavericks look to add to their wins. KEYC
