- ➤ On Tuesday, community members gathered at South Central College in North Mankato for the Grateful Gathering where culinary arts students served steaming hot Thanksgiving plates for $10 each—students from the culinary and architectural drafting programs built festive gingerbread houses for a silent auction that benefited both programs, with local resident Renae Kappe traveling 300 miles from Ada to attend. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ MnDOT crews are getting ready for the first winter weather event after rain washed away road pre-treatments and may cause spots to freeze unevenly—83 plow trucks and 166 drivers will work to keep roads safe, and drivers are urged to check updated conditions. The department is testing equipment and procedures to meet the challenges of shifting temperatures and rain. KEYC
- ➤ Mankato Department of Public Safety will launch its annual fire-prevention campaign for the holiday season from Thanksgiving through New Year's Day. A wreath with clear bulbs will be on display at the Public Safety Center at 710 S. Front St.—it will remind residents not to overload extension cords, to stay in the kitchen when cooking, and to keep candles attended. Mankato Free Press

- ➤ Minnesota State’s women’s basketball beat St. Cloud State 110-81 yesterday with Natalie Bremer scoring 25 points to help the Mavericks open their NSIC season. The team led 51-38 at halftime and pulled away in the fourth quarter—showing strong performance throughout the game. KEYC
- ➤ Tuesday night, Minnesota State men’s basketball lost 73-53 to St. Cloud State at home—Malcolm Jones scored a team-high 15 points as the Huskies controlled the second half. KEYC
