Good morning, Mankato.

A new 40-unit supportive housing project for people facing homelessness is set to break ground in March on city-owned land near downtown—local partners have secured $7.2M in funds and housing vouchers while planning an adjacent 24/7 shelter pending additional funding.

A low-income housing complex in Mankato lost 40 of its 120 units after last summer’s flood damage and now risks losing its affordable status if nonprofit owners do not secure city cost sharing next year for repairs (including drainage improvements).

Mount Kato is seeing better ski conditions today as cold temperatures and natural snow boost its snow-making and encourage regular visits from long-time enthusiasts like Fred McCurnin and Bruce McKee.

Ice fishing is picking up, with local lakes reporting adequate ice for foot travel + smaller vehicles.
