Saturday, November 7 at 3PM and Saturday, December 5 at 3 PM – Mankato, MN – Historic First Presbyterian Church in downtown Mankato launched a piano and organ series with Ben Marti and special guests. Join us for a special presentation of poetry and music.

Ben Marti will perform works by Schoenberg, Phillip Glass and Paul Hindemith as well as his own improvisations inspired by the Gospel of John Chapter 1. Peter Steiner will read poetry of Emily Dickinson, W.B. Yeats, William Stafford and more!

The concert is called, “Bereshit” which is Hebrew for “in the beginning.” In this 3rd concert of the series, we will explore the mystery of ordinary time in relation to the birth of language and myth.

The concert on December 5 at 3 PM is titled, “And there was light.” In preparation for the coming of Christ this advent season, Ben Marti will perform organ works by contemporary composers. Audience members will take a musical journey from the darkness of the void to the light of the world in this dazzling final concert of the series.
