EDUCATION NEWS

  • College students from Minnesota State and Winona State are advocating for unified K-12 health and sex ed standards that will guide school instruction, with a public hearing set to shape the rollout planned for the 2026-27 school year statewide.  Mankato Free Press

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • North Mankato plans to convert the east practice field at Caswell North Soccer Complex to synthetic turf after the City Council approved the $1.2M project at Monday’s meeting — the report says bids will be advertised in early March and construction could begin in May.  Mankato Free Press

HEALTH NEWS

  • United Hospital District in Blue Earth received a $1.5 million gift from the Mike and Tami Hoffman Family Foundation for a new MRI machine — renovations will start in March and the equipment is expected online by January to expand weekday appointments.  KEYC

SPORTS NEWS

  • The Mankato Knights defeated Dakota United (19-14) on Tuesday and will play in next week’s state tournament.  KEYC
  • The Mankato East girls hockey team will face Blake in the Class A state tournament opening round today at 8:00 a.m. inside (Grand Casino Arena).  KEYC
