If you own a home in North Mankato, here's your 2027 number. The council is prepared to propose a 2.75% rate increase. The 2027 levy would be $11,521,700, up $1,294,700, or 12.66%, from 2026. Finance Director Jessica Ryan wrote that it's important to distinguish between the levy increase and the tax-rate increase, and she pointed to the city's growing tax base.

The money would go to maintenance and staffing, including rooftop HVAC units for city hall and a fire station, tasers and body cameras for police, and a plow truck. Not everyone's sold on every cut. At Monday's meeting, resident Barb Church pushed back on dropping cleanup events from two a year to one. Council members discussed keeping both with shorter hours.
